Meet the Scientists Behind Devon Science
Pupils meet real scientists and science educators.
Our team brings a mixture of scientific knowledge, teaching experience and science communication skills to every school visit.
We believe children should see that scientists are real people — and science is something they can be part of too.
Ruth
Ruth founded Devon Science. She's a Biomedical Scientist & QTS qualified teacher, lecturing Human Biology & Microbiology at university. She organises & runs events across our regions. Ruth doesn't have much time to have hobbies but enjoys trees, resining and weight training!
Rob
Rob is a retired scientist supporting our public events but mostly he works behind the scenes looking after our accounts and preparing science kits for our shop. He knows as much about slime as he does 70s rock music (which is a LOT!)
Carolyn
Carolyn is a teacher who runs many of our events, parties & shows across all our regions. Music, kayaking, travelling, writing.....she has too many creative hobbies to list!
Charlotte
Charlotte is an award winning (PSTT) primary science lead teacher based in the Exeter and Newton Abbot regions. She is still teaching at a local primary school and therefore supports and leads our workshops mostly at weekends and during holidays.
Sophie
Sophie is a masters graduate supporting events in the Somerset & Bristol regions & writes our blogs. She loves history and museums, but is also very knowledgeable about biology.
Naomi
Naomi is a very experienced HLTA working at a primary school, with experience of supporting young teens. Due to her work during the school term, Naomi helps at our events at weekends & holidays. She loves the outdoors, music and camping.
Luise
Luise works with SEN children & adults as an occupational therapist in North Devon & is a science party pro. As she works full time, Luise steps in to support our event mostly at weekends.

Half day Science Experience from £400
For a half day with 2-3 small workshops (morning or afternoon) with 1 facilitator
Full Science Day from £500
A full day of scientist-led science workshops for multiple year groups.
Whole Science Day Experience from £600
A spectacular whole-school assembly combined with hands-on workshops for all year groups.
Travel costs will apply depending on your location. Overnight accommodation may apply if you are more than 120 mins drive away from our base in Barnstaple.
There is no VAT added to these prices.
