Online LIVE Science Classes

We’re passionate about helping children learn the wonders of science through practical, hands-on activities, that’s why we deliver the science kit to your door for our online live science classes, so that your budding scientist can become immersed in an interactive session.
You can work towards the British Science Association’s Crest Award too!

£40 / block of 4 classes includes kit delivered.

Each kit has enough for 1 child or 2 children doing the experiments together.

More kits needed? – no problem…..Siblings can either share a kit or we can send

you additional kits for £10 each. These are available to order on the booking page.

We have 4 live science clubs to choose from:

Gross science experiments that kids love!

Sneaky – Make periscopes to spy on friends & jitter critters – mini-robots to spook your friends!

GloopyMake polymerised slimey snot or gooey bogeys, weird non newtonian fluids & Oobleck.

Smelly – Make & mix liquids to create worms which pop when squished. The difference between solutions and mixtures & make your own pH indicator.

Rancid – Collect yeast farts. Smelly fizzy reactions. Bath bombs with a horrid surprises

Inventors Club

– next dates tbc

Engineering, circuits, robots & biomimicry topics.

Nature’s Secrets – Colour changing bead bracelets, magic balancing butterflies, secret messages & decoder glasses.

Vehicle designs – Super gliders & zooming air powered cars.

Circuits – make simple circuits using bulbs and batteries, investigate insulators/conductors, make clay LED light up creatures.

Robots – Using battery packs and motors, you’ll make Art-bots to create a masterpiece then design and build crazy Vibro-bot.

We have just finished this term and will be back in September but contact us here to go on our mailing list and we’ll let you know when the next scheduled club is

What are the live online clubs all about?!

  • Hands on educational and fun online, live science clubs around a particular topic using the kit we’ve sent to you.
  • Suitable for primary school aged children.
  • LIVE and online via Zoom.
  • Online support via our private Home-Ed FB group.
  • Work towards the British Science Association’s Crest Award – (optional extra – details below).
  • Earn stamps for the Children’s University Passport.
  • Only £40 per family includes the kit delivered via Royal Mail’s Signed For service. Image and details of kits below.
  • £10 per additional kit (for siblings – optional).
  • The club is led by our scientist & teacher, Ruth (yes – an actual real scientist!).
  • The groups are kept small (up to 10 screens), so Ruth can ensure your youngster is engaged and involved throughout.

A typical session:

During a typical session of one of our online live science classes, Ruth opens the class a few minutes early to check sound and video, and welcomes everyone in. We begin promptly usually this is with a catch up from the last session, to show any follow up activities youngsters did, or any big news to share. We then get underway with Ruth explaining the current session’s topic, we then work through the practical activities together, with Ruth showing and guiding youngsters through the task, whilst explaining the theory behind what they’re doing. Ruth asks questions throughout and encourages youngsters to share and ask questions too. A few families prefer to have their camera off, which is absolutely fine, although as Ruth can not see what you are doing, she may not be as interactive with you as someone  with their camera on. At the end, Ruth offers suggestions on how to turn the activities into proper experiments useful for those working towards the CREST Award.

What happens during a session? Watch the video below!

British Science Association Crest Award

At all our clubs, children can earn the BSA’s Crest Award, which means after 8 classes plus 8 extension activities (ideas are given during the class of things the children can do once the session is over) your child receives a certificate and badge from the BSA. If you’re not already registered you can do so here.

Thank you, Ruth, for your seriously inspiring online science sessions. My two kids spent many days afterwards re-creating the experiments in different ways - thanks to the excellent equipment kits you sent in the post. It's brilliant how you teach them the scientific principles behind the fun stuff, they love going on to apply those principles in other situations. They have learned so much and we will definitely be back for more.

Each session had three really fun and engaging activities, well taught and explained. None of the activities were “duds” or time fillers and my daughter was inspired to follow up each session with further investigation. The sessions were well priced and we are sad they have come to an end

  • Joanna, Online Clubs
Many thanks for your amazing lessons! They are so good at inspiring young scientists and introducing scientific concepts in a fun way.
    Joanna, Online Clubs
  • Beth, Online
Absolutely fantastic online classes. My 5yo looks forward to them every week and it has really fed his love of science and provided lots more avenues for him to explore in his own time. The kits are always well organised and the little added treats make it that bit more special and exciting for young children to receive.
